The Kanektok (aka the Chosen River) is a fly fisherman’s dream. The river is the perfect size and provides outstanding spawning grounds for all five species of Alaskan Pacific salmon. Located in southwestern Alaska near the village of Quinhagak, with the camp being perfectly situated within the Togiak National Wildlife Refuge
The Kanektok is a very special river in terms of king fishing. It is unique amongst other Alaskan rivers in that not only does it provide the opportunity to catch chrome bright fish close to the ocean, but they are in water that makes them very accessible with a fly rod, (swinging technique in particular).
In 2018 I am once again hosting a trip to Alaska, to fish the Kanektok river. I rarely go back to the same place twice in a row, but it was so good last summer, that I just cannot resist!! The 2018 trip has been selected to give anglers the very best chance of catching all 5 species of Pacific Salmon in one week, so it should be a really, really good trip. The dates for this year's trip, again with Reel Action Fly Fishing, is 21st to 28th July.
Reel Action Alaska operates as a full service tent lodge that has been designed to provide guests with all the comforts needed for living in the bush. The location of the lodge (1 mile from tide water) was carefully chosen to provide our guests a front row seat to the freshest chrome bright fly fishing action in Alaska. One thing I like about this camp, that is rare in the fly fishing "trip" world, is that each guest has their own room and tent - a nice perk if you find sleep hard when sharing with a snorer - as I do!
In addition, this mid July time has some very good fly fishing for leopard rainbow trout particularly on mouse patterns, leeches, dries and sculpin patterns, so bring a light Switch rod, or a single-handed rod.
The all inclusive trip package includes transportation from Quinhagak to the lodge by jet boat, all lodging, meals, rods, reels, custom flies, terminal tackle, vacuum packing of fish, fish box, and a DVD of pictures and videos from your trip.
